Taking it easy

I've taken a few days away from blogland and the whole computer pretty, just to relax and recuperate.   Christmas was great, fairly chaotic, but great.  I slept terribly the last few nights before Christmas and Christmas Eve I couldn't sleep at all!  I don't know why, maybe I was just so super excited, but I could NOT fall asleep.  Since then I've been doing better, still trying to catch up though.

The snow is slowly melting and we took my car out yesterday for the first time since the 23rd. Unfortunately when I went to start it it was dead...ughhh.  As most of you know I just had a horrendous car bill, and this did not make me happy.  In the end Joel jumped it with is truck and it was fine.

We went to Vancouver yesterday.  I had a wedding to shoot and Joel visited with some old friends. Oh, and he also went to Lulu Lemon and got me a hoodie! He's so sweet!

Anyway, to see some pics from yesterday just follow the link to my other blog...my coffee is calling me!

As promised...

I had to pretty much drag the kiddos out yesterday to play in the snow!  They kept saying that it was too cold, which it was, but once they got out there they loved it and played 'till dark.
Here are some favourites from the afternoon!

Too cold for pictures!

Okay, so I have been taking a break with my camera this past week.  It has been so cold to go outside and take pictures and the kids have been so busy with school.  School is out and the weather is beautiful, very cold, but beautiful.  So as one of my goals today, I am going take my camera out and take some wintery shots.

My other goals? In no particular order....
laundry (always)
wrap presents
cook dinner
watch High School Musical 1
did I mention laundry?

Joel just came in and asked how I have the time to write two blogs?  I said it was just like journalling.  He in reply asked how I have time to journal with so much laundry to do?  Ouch, do you think that was a hint?

Okay, well with my last week being camera free I have been going through old pictures and re-editing some of them (yes, I really LOVE photoshop!)

Here are a few from this time last year.  I will post some from today later!

Enjoy the beauty that surrounds us today!

4 more sleeps!

The kids are getting so excited for Christmas. Maybe it's the blizzard going on outside or perhaps it's the growing number of gifts under the tree.

Yesterday I did an impromptu shopping trip with Catherine to Langley to do some very last minute shopping!  It actually wasn't too bad, lines moved quickly and traffic was pretty good.  Cath even won a free pair of jeans (of her choice)  from Old Navy!  It was good to get out, because judging by this crazy weather, I may not be getting out for days!

Last night we went to mom and dad's for dinner.  It was really nice, the whole family was there.  The kids even got to open their presents from Brandon and Dominika.  Elissa loves her frog slippers (she slept with them last night) and Connor carries his two new  Cars cars around with him everywhere!

This morning is the church Christmas Concert.  It should be super cute!

Enjoy the this winter wonderland!

Family Night

It seems like for the past few weeks we have been out nearly every night!  Well last night we finally had a night in at home.   We wanted to do something special with the kids as it was their last day of school before the holidays.  We ended up having our first movie night as a family.  We all got our jammies on, popped popcorn, drank Cranberry Gingerale, cuddled under blankets and watched the original version of How The Grinch Stole Christmas.  It was so fun and relaxing!

Santa

Joel and I have always had fairly mixed opinions on how to go about the whole "Santa" ordeal.  I was brought up believing there was  Santa, Joel not so much.  In fact he recalls telling a girl in grade 4 that there was no such thing as Santa and her being VERY upset.  So up until this year we have kind of avoided the whole discussion.  The kids I guess have "kinda" believed, but not to the point where it is all they could talk about.

Elissa has expressed in no uncertain terms this year that there is indeed, no Santa.  Connor who doesn't really know a whole lot different has come to this realization as well, mostly because he believes pretty much everything Elissa says, since she is the older sister.

So fast forward to tonight when Joel and I are tucking the wee ones in.
Elissa- "there is no Santa right dad?"
Joel- "nope."
Elissa: "I didn't think so."
Connor: "Because he wears burgundy right?"

What?  Not sure where that came from, but Connor apparently thinks that since Santa wears burgundy he's not real!  Too cute!

That's all for tonight!

Here we go!

Well, I guess the real reason I'm starting this blog is more for me than anyone else. I find myself throughout the day having all these random thoughts, frustrations, and happy times.  I need a place to put all these thoughts, whether they are just vents, inspirational ideas, or cool things I find online that I can share.  Just so y'all know, my grammar is not going to be great, my spelling I'm sure will be atrocious and the pictures I post won't necessarily be edited or my finest work. But what this blog will be, is a place for you to come and see into the life of a Christian wife, mother, and photographer.  So thanks for joining me in this tiny little part of the cyberspace, it's great to have you.  Please feel free to make comments so I know I'm not alone out there!
